Veteran MotoGP rider Marc Marquez has won seven MotoGP championships, but many are still calling him “the best MotoGP rider ever.” The 24-year-old Spaniard is more than three years into his professional career, but has already won more than four times as many races as the next best. This year he has continued his success in the MotoGP series, and is still seeking his third consecutive victory.

While Marquez holds the record for most wins in MotoGP, he has been joined on the podium by a talented Italian pair. In his debut season on the MotoGP series, Morgan Fujioka finished fourth place and established himself as the best Italian rider in the world. Dario Franchitti’s son, Stefan, finished the season seventh. Suzuki’s Senzo Meyiuan finished 10th with a times of 1:43.562, but many feel that he should have gone further in the championship.

Jueto’s teammate, Valentino Rossi, also continued his tough run with a second-place finish in the championship, moving from seventh place to fifth. For now, he is still looking for his first ever championship. This year he has also added another trophy to his collection, the 24th overall title at Indianapolis on September 1, after 24 seasons on the motorcycle. Next year Rossi will be trying for his record fourth MotoGP championship title in nine years.

Pecco Bagnaia was elected president of the Italian Federation of Motorcycling (FIM) in August.
