A man has died after his car crashed into a house in Scarborough, north Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Flintshire Avenue and Iona Way at about 8.40pm on Wednesday.

A Humberside police spokesman said: “The first arriving crews have confirmed that a vehicle has crashed into a house. The first responders inside were also asked to alert anyone they could to get out.

“Due to the complexity of the scene, and a number of people still inside the property, the scene was effectively a life-threatening emergency. Sadly the vehicle was reported to be occupied by the occupants of the car. A man was ejected from the vehicle. He was rushed to Scarborough general hospital but sadly died shortly after arrival.”

The body of the 57-year-old motorist is expected to be taken from the scene of the collision to an RSCPA forensic testing unit for examination.

Nobody else was injured in the incident. An investigation is under way.
